It was bound to happen, sooner or later...
For halloween, I often considered putting together the costume to be "Max, King of the Monsters", from the Maurice Sendak book Where the Wild Things Are. I had always loved the story, and related very deeply to that character in an odd childish sort of way.

(Although one of the major drawbacks to that outfit (aside from effort), was the risk of being mistaken for a furry.)

Anyway, it now looks like the short illustrated story is being expanded into a full movie. It will be interesting to see how it comes out. Screenplay by Dave Eggers and Spike Jonze.

its always weird news to take when they decide to make a movie from something you have a deep emotional connection with, especially from childhood. because they might ruin all that is wonderful about it! they might! in this case, the "they" sounds like totally well-equipped with wonderfulness, and it has potential to be an amazing film.

also a friend of mine also dressed up as max. with a tinfoil crown and a little pot belly, it was unmistakably as potently accepted at the halloween ball as peter pan himself would have been.

A friend of mine dressed up like Max once, trust me, no one will mistake you for a furry. You will have to fight off the hoardes of people squealing "OMG MAAAAAAAX" and trying to hug you, if his experience was any indication. heh. :D
